We recommend teachers and schools work with their local Aboriginal community (starting locally and extending out) when designing teaching and learning activities. Templates and art materials are a starting point for meaningful making and responding lessons, and discussions should enrich student understanding while acknowledging, respecting and valuing Aboriginal identities and cultural expressions. Any art making that replicates Aboriginal cultural expressions must be done in consultation with the appropriate Aboriginal people, the owners of that cultural property.
