ATAR Notes Year 8 English Notes (2025–2027)

These English Notes will help you build upon and refine your skills in Language, Literature, and Literacy as outlined in the Australian National Curriculum.

The content is broken down into easy-to-digest sections that will equip you with the tools you need to shine in your assessments and hone your knowledge. You'll be guided through the key skills needed to extract meaning from language, as well as understanding form, themes, and story structure. Accompanied by annotated examples, you'll delve into how to analyse written and visual text types and the context which informs them. In the second half of the book, you'll focus on crafting your own piece of writing, whether that be an analytical essay, persuasive, narrative, or a multi-modal presentation.

Madeleine graduated with an ATAR of 93.4, obtaining excellent scores in three different English subjects in her final year of high school. She is currently studying a Bachelor of Communications, majoring in both Social and Political Sciences and Writing and Publishing. She believes that the foundational skills gained in her early years of high school propelled her success in her senior schooling and beyond.
