About the programme
StepsWeb develops the core skills needed for reading and spelling in a way which is research-based and comprehensive — but also effective and enjoyable. It supports literacy and language development through a Structured Literacy approach, addressing both underlying processing skills and essential knowledge components.
It is designed for all learners, including those with dyslexia, English as an additional language, or those needing remedial support. The adaptive online course provides practice tailored to each student’s level.
Backed by research
An independent study found that pupils using StepsWeb made an average of 14 months’ literacy progress in just 6 months. Visual recognition speed (an indicator of reading fluency) improved by 51%, with positive effects also seen in learners’ self-esteem.

Workbooks
StepsWeb workbooks have been designed to complement the online course. They provide additional reinforcement which directly correlates with Foundation Levels A–D and Levels 1–12 online. Foundation and struggling learners benefit most when using both, and the workbooks are also effective resources by themselves.
Australian editions use Sassoon, NSW/ACT, QLD or VIC/WA/NT handwriting fonts.
