Nelson Connect with History for the Australian Curriculum Year 7 is the first in a series of four books that address the new Junior National History Curriculum. The student book is structured to facilitate the pedagogy of the Australian Curriculum for junior history within the context of world history.

This is the Teacher's Edition of the text. It contains the same content as the student book with additional page-by-page wraparound information to assist teachers with lesson planning and instruction.

The Year 7 text covers the period from the earliest human communities to the end of the ancient period (c.60,000BP-c.500AD). Students will discover all about the ancient world, what we know and what we do not know about the ancient past through engaging site studies and ‘history mysteries’, why and where did the earliest societies develop and what were the defining characteristics of these emerging ancient societies. The student will come to know about the legacies of these ancient societies and in doing so, make connections with the past. Visual timelines are a feature of the book and are highly effective in illustrating key points.

The depth studies allow the student to focus on an ancient society of choice to discover how people lived in these times, what type of clothes and what kind of jewellery they wore, how they practiced their religious beliefs, how they were governed, what they built and ultimately how they fought and what were the lasting legacies these societies left behind today.
